Recommended System Requirements & Demo Downloads:

Most newer PC or Macintosh computers should be able to fly X-Plane with RealScenery with very good performance.

System requirements (both PC and Macintosh)

Recommended:
2GHz or greater CPU
2GB RAM
128 MB Video Card
400MB disk space (see below)
DVD Drive

Each scenery file is about 400MB. You will need to have 400MB of disk for each scenery file that you wish to use with X-Plane. For example, if you choose to fly with four scenery files, you would need almost 2GB of disk space available.

Having a dual core processor and more than 2GB RAM will add greatly to the performance since more images will be able to be loaded and viewed at their highest detail in X-Plane. Also, with muliple CPUs, scenery loading can be done in the background by the second CPU, greatly enhancing X-Plane's performance. A larger capacity video card of 256MB will also increase your X-Plane's performance.

Even if you don't have the recommended computer specifications, you can get a lot of enjoyment out of the scenery by only using one or two of the scenery files at a time. Each scenery file covers one-degree longitude by one-degree latitude, which is a large land area.

In general, the more system RAM and video RAM you have available, the better performing X-Plane and RealScenery will be. Please see the support page for tips on getting the best performance out of your RealScenery. If you have an older system that may not meet the recommended specifications, try the downloadable demo and see how it performs on your system.

Demo versions of RealScenery:

The demo versions cover an area which is representative of the specific scenery package. Demos contain a user guide with complete installation instructions. You will need a high-speed internet connection to download the demos. We've tried to give you a good idea of the commercial scenery through these demo packages.
